No go in March

I called the nurse today and told her I wasn't ready for March. If the girl scheduled for June 29th backs out, I will get her spot. Otherwise, I am scheduled for January 4th, 2012.
There is just too much going on right now. Travis has to hire someone at work, and train them. He will miss alot of work and needs to find a dependable person he can trust to get the work done while he is away for so many weeks.
I think I am doing the right thing.
The kids are happy--they will still get to go to Disney World in May/June! :)

St. Louis Visit

We made a fast trip to and from St. Louis last week to visit with Dr. Lenke. Dr. Lenke has some very high credentials.
He confirmed that surgery is necessary for me. The sooner the better-not because my spine would crush my lungs or heart, but because the younger I am, the easier my recovery would be and the more flexible my spine would be which would be easier for him to straighten.
He is currently booked until December 2011 except for one opening in March and possibly another one June 29th. I went ahead and and signed up for March, but the more I think about it, the less sure I am about it. I think I will call the scheduler and have her put me down for the June date. If that doesn't go through, then I'll just wait til May 2012. I don't want to have this done at a "bad" time. I have so much going on...I just don't want to commit to something/someone and not be able to follow through with it. So if I plan this far enough out, then I think I can get it all done.
I appreciate everyone's concern and offers to help. I will take you on them when the time comes! ;) LOL Seriously, I DO appreciate YOU and your help!!!!!! I don't know what I'd do without you!!!! THANK YOU!!

X-Ray from 1988

As I am preparing for my appointment in St. Louis next week, I find myself scrambling trying to find all of my old x-rays. I found a large rubbermaid container in the storage building over the weekend packed full of childhood memories. I found old jr. high yearbooks, pictures from dances, lots of notes from friends, scrapbooks my mom kept for me, diaries going all the way back to 2nd grade and much much more! At the very bottom of that container were my old x-rays. Probably the 1st x-ray I ever had of my back. It was dated 1988. I had a curve that measured 45 degrees at that time.
2 yrs later, another x-ray at 48 degrees. 15 years later it had progressed to 53 degrees. Now, 22 years since my first x-ray I sit at 67/68 degrees (depending on the doctor measuring)...
I sure wish someone would have persuaded my mom to take me to a pediatric hospital/ortho at the time....
Oh well, we can't change the past, we can only move on and change the future!
I am eagerly awaiting my appointment next week in St. Louis.
I hope to get some good news and a surgery date!! :)
