I figured it had been a while since the last post that I would write a new one today and update you. Surprisingly, I have not been in much pain the last few weeks. I have not had to go to a chiropractor in weeks nor have I had to take any medicine!! Do I think I am healed? No! Do I think that God is relieving my pain? Yes! Luckily I have felt like my old self. I've been able to play with the kids, move like I usually do, run errands, volunteer at school, etc with no back pain! Now, if I push myself (like wear heels for 12 hours a day or stand on my feet ALL day without a break) then yes, I have lower back pain. So I think maybe I know my limits well enough now that I am able to control the pain more.
My next doctor's appointment is coming up in just a few weeks. I am looking forward to seeing what Dr. Lenke in St. Louis has to say.
If he has the same attitude/opinion about the surgery as the Dallas doctor, I am planning on pushing the surgery back to summer 2012, unless they can get me in this summer (summer 2011).
My little sister will be a senior next year. I don't want to miss her volleyball games her senior year. I don't want to miss her homecomings or Prom. Not that I would be at the dances, but I always enjoy seeing her in her beautiful dresses! I especially do not want to miss her graduation! So I think the summer after she graduates might be the best time. As long as I still have someone to help me with the kids. I wonder if my little sister would want to take care of me and her niece and nephew before she goes off to college??!! ;)

Baylor Scoliosis Center in Plano, TX
We are back from Dallas! The visit went really well! Dr. Hostin doesn't think that I need to rush surgery...something that could be done this year, next year, or the year after. Whenever it is convenient for me and my family.
They have VERY nice facilities. The doctors, PAs and staff were all super nice and friendly!!
So now, we wait until November, when I will go to St. Louis and get a 3rd opinion and go from there!
Thank you all so much for your prayers!!!

Looking On The BRIGHT SIDE!
Recently I took a trip with 8 other women from church. When we arrived at the hotel and it was time to "draw straws" on who got the bunk bed, pull-out couch bed or the plush king size bed, these women very generous!! See, in the past, on our last trip we took, I slept on the pullout couch, which was not very comfortable! But now, since they've all seen my x-rays, no one hesitated this time. They were all very generous and gracious to offer me the king size bed. So I guess when it comes to looking on the bright side, that is one (small) thing that has come out of this.
Thank you ladies for being so generous, gracious and loving!!!
I love you all!!! :)

FINALLY!!!!
I FINALLY received a phone call from the local Joplin Ortho's office on Monday, stating that they faxed the necessary paperwork to St. Louis. (It only took 5 and a half weeks).
Within 24 hours, the St. Louis office had called and scheduled my appointment.
The bad news is, I can't get in until November--and they are currently scheduling surgeries for the following summer/fall.
So it looks like it's going to be a while before I have surgery.
I guess that will give me plenty of time to prepare.
Part of me wants to just hurry up and get it over with and move on, but part of me is very scared and thinks that waiting is the best option.
Only God knows what is best and apparently he has me waiting for a reason! :)

The WAITING Game
I called the local ortho office to follow up on my paperwork (to see if they had faxed it to St. Louis yet) and my doctor is out of the office til NEXT Thursday!!!
It's been 28 days since my appointment and they still don't have the notes from my file and/or x-ray complete.
So, I will continue to impatiently wait....and wait...and wait! :(

Still Waiting
Nope, there is no new info. I am still waiting on the Joplin Ortho office to get the dictation back so that they can fax the notes to St. Louis.
Hopefully they'll get it done one day next week.
We are looking forward to the holiday this weekend.
Hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday!!
Be safe!!
